TU Delft Excellence Scholarships

Link: http://www.tudelft.nl/en/study/studying-at-the-tu-delft/finances/scholarships-awards/tu-delft-excellence-scholarships/

TU Delft’s mission is to make a significant contribution towards a sustainable society for the twenty-first century by conducting ground-breaking scientific and technological research which is acknowledged as world-class, by training scientists and engineers with a genuine commitment to society and by helping to translate knowledge into technological innovations and activity with both economic and social value.

Research at TU Delft encompasses virtually the entire spectrum of engineering sciences and it is this breadth that forms the basis for TU Delft’s strong scientific profile. The research questions we tackle are strongly inspired by important future challenges facing society.

TU Delft Excellence Scholarships are in line with our research-based initiatives such as Health, Energy, Globalization and Infrastructures & Mobility which are among the most important themes in today’s society. TU Delft aims to make an important scientific contribution to solving issues facing society that relate to these four themes, working from a thematic, multidisciplinary cooperation. Moreover, TU Delft is in the process of raising its international profile in several areas, some of them relatively new. This is to be achieved by clustering research capacity – either physically or virtually – in a number of university-wide institutes. This clustering of high-quality research capacity puts us in a better position to join national and international consortia and networks, and also makes us more attractive to top scientific talent.

Within the scope of the Excellence Scholarships, TU Delft also offers the Justus & Louise Van Effen Scholarships, financed by the legacy of Justus and Louise van Effen. Mr. van Effen studied at TU Delft in the 1940’s and strongly believed technological developments contribute to solving society’s issues.
The Foundation Justus & Louise van Effen was established with the aim of stimulating excellent international MSc students and financially supporting them in their wish to study at TU Delft.

Holland Scholarship [Deadline 31 March 2015]

Holland Scholarship

The Holland Scholarship is the new national scholarship programme for Dutch and international students. The scholarship is made available by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science together with 48 Dutch higher education institutions. They will grant scholarships to 1,536 students per academic year.

EP-Nuffic has an advisory role in the implementation of the programme . We are responsible for providing information about the programme and promoting it, as well as coordinating the alumni network and organising events.

The scholarship programme is first and foremost a means of profiling Dutch higher education. It is aimed at stimulating talented international students from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) to study in Holland.

In addition, the programme aims to increase the international mobility of Dutch students, by stimulating them to study outside the EEA on a scholarship.

Vision on internationalisation

The Holland Scholarship was set up as a result of the Vision on internationalisation set out by the VSNU (the Association of Universities in the Netherlands) and the Netherlands Association of Universities of Applied Sciences, as well as the letter of the Ministry of Education Culture and Science in June 2014 outlining the government’s vision on internationalisation. One of the essential points in both documents was the strong demand for a new Dutch scholarship programme aimed at student mobility.

This programme is jointly financed by the ministry and Dutch higher education institutions.

All applications received by 1 March will be reviewed by the faculty at which the applicant will be participating in a Master’s programme. Faculties then nominate applicants to the central VUFP scholarship committee, which then awards scholarships to the most talented students. The award is based on the motivation letter, the quality of previous education and the student’s academic performance therein. A scholarship offer will then be made to successful candidates.

Eligible candidates

The VU Fellowship Programme (VUFP) is a scholarship for strongly motivated students with excellent study results.

Eligible candidates must be able to prove their academic excellence, must be admitted to a preselected Master’s degree at VU University, do not have the Dutch nationality and have not graduated from a Dutch higher education programme.

Scholarships amounts

The VUFP scholarship covers your tuition fee, and provides for an allowance towards study and living costs (paid out in 3 installments over the year). Please note that the scholarship does not cover all your living expenses.

There are two variations of the VUFP scholarship:

€5.000 to students paying the tuition fee for EEA students
€15.000 to students paying the tuition fee for non-EEA students
The grant is awarded to students in their first year of a Master’s degree programme. Only students following a 2-year Master’s programme may apply for a second year and the prerequisite for a second application is the achievement of at least 80% of the 60 possible credits. The Faculty VUFP committee will be asked to demonstrate to the Central VUFP committee that these credits have indeed been achieved.

Anne van den Ban Scholarship Fund at Wageningen University

Link: http://www.fondsen.wur.nl/UK/AvdB+scholarship+fund/About+AvdBan+Fund/

The Anne van den Ban Fund (previously the ‘Stichting Redelijk Studeren’), is named after

Dr Anne van den Ban, a former professor Rural Extension at Wageningen University. The fund was founded in 1992 by two Wageningen alumni. The Anne van den Ban Fund is affiliated to the Wageningen University Fund.

Goal
The fund exists to enable promising students from developing countries and Central and Eastern Europe to study at Wageningen University. The long term goal is the training of talented experts who will go on to play leading roles in improving the agricultural production, rural development and environment in their own countries.

In addition to the geographical criteria students applying for the fund must meet the following conditions:

they must already be accepted for their chosen study at Wageningen

– they must have achieved good academic results in their own country

– they must intend to return to their own country at the completion of their degree

The fund also gives preference to candidates who already receive some form of financial assistance.
Applicants please note: the Anne van den Ban Fund is not a rich fund. The fund can only support a limited number of students each year! Check our contact page for the latest news.

Board:

Professor Johan Bouma (Chairman)

Dr. Lot (C.H.) Hänisch ten Cate (Secretary)

Dr.Ir. Tjark Struif Bontkes (Treasurer)

Ir. Hans (J.) Jansen (secretaris studentenzaken)

Dr. Ir. Henk Udo
Dr. Ir. Anne van den Ban

For applicants
Before your application for a fellowship can be considered, you first have to be admitted to a MSc at Wageningen University.

See for admission procedures: http://www.wageningenuniversity.nl/UK/informationfor/stud-outside

If you have been admitted or if you are admitted under the conditon that you complete your BSc soon you can apply for a fellowship of the Anne van den Ban Foundation (ABF).

The call for fellowships for all programmes starting September is open from 1 February till 15 April. The call for fellowships for all programmes starting in February is open from September 1 till October 15.

Please realize that the ABF is not a rich one. It therefore is highly recommended also to apply at other foundations. This only will benefit you because they normally offer higher monthly allowances than we can do.

The probability to get a fellowship from the ABF for the academis year 2011/2012 is almost reduced to zero due to the fact we can only offer a maximum of 5 full fellowships a year and due to the fact that we are overrun by applications caused by some rumours at twitter.

Please do not apply unless you have been admitted to a MSc programme at Wageningen University !!!!!!
