Master in Computer and Networking

For the academic year 2010/11, Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna and the University of Pisa are jointly offering the second 2-year edition of the Master’s (Laurea Magistrale, LM-18 Informatica, compliant with Decree 270/04) program in Computer Science and Networking (MCSN), starting at the end of September 2010. All classes are offered in ENGLISH language.
This Master degree program is a joint initiative (Laurea Interateneo) of:
• University of Pisa – Department of Computer Science (Faculty of Sciences) and Department of Information Engineering (Faculty of Engineering)
• Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna – Centre of Excellence for Information, Communication and Perception Engineering (Class of Experimental Sciences).
The official Master qualification diploma (Laurea Magistrale) is jointly awarded by University of Pisa and by Scuola SUperiore Sant’Anna.
The Master is structured in traditional front lectures and in laboratory sessions and the program is divided in 4 semesters. The applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree (1st level Laurea degree) or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications, Information Technology.
The two-year Master degree program (Laurea Magistrale) in Computer Science and Networking has been designed to meet the growing demand for an emerging kind of professionals with expertise in both computer and information science and technologies and communication and networking science and technologies in a strongly integrated manner. This expertise is needed in the design and implementation of both innovative hardware-software distributed infrastructures and service-based distributed applications in several areas of industry, e-business, research, social and citizen services, public administration.
A graduate with strong expertise in both information and networking sciences and technologies is without precedence in the current scenario of national master programs (Lauree Magistrali), and few are the examples at the international level.
The Contact Point for the Master are Prof. Piero Castoldi at Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna and Prof. Marco Vanneschi at the University of Pisa.

Depending on family income and country of provenience: Maximum tuition fee is about 2,000.00 Euros per A.Y, Minimum tuition fee is about 350.00 Euros per A.Y.

One annual scholarship of  7.500,00
Euros reserved to non-EU students not residing in Italy is available. The scholarship will be assigned to the best applicant in the final ranking list reserved to non-EU applicants not residing in Italy, who has obtained a score of at least 90/100.
Additional scholarships may be available after the selection.

Foreign students will be supported from the Master Secretariat in the drawing up of the documentation required for the application to the contributions provided by the “Azienda Regionale per il Diritto allo Studio” of Pisa.
These contributions consist in scholarships, lodging grants, free meals at the University canteen, tuition waivers.

For the A.Y. 2009/10 the “Istituto Nazionale per il Commercio Estero” (ICE, Italian Institute for Foreign Trade) made avaible one annual scholarship of 8,000.00 Euros, reserved to the best Indian or Turkish student in the admission list, in the framework of the Indian-Italian project “Invest Your Talent in Italy”.
This scholarship might be available for the A.Y. 2010-11 also.

Foreign applicants can ask the Italian Embassy/Consulate about scholarships awarded by Italian Government to EU and non-EU citizens residing outside Italy (granted by paritetic inter-government committees).
